Privacy policy

What we collect

• Account: your name and email, and your sign-in details.
• Interview: what you call the person, your relationship, the topics you choose, voice recordings, transcripts and stories.
• Consent records: date and time, version of the consent text, internet address and browser type.
• Payment: handled by Stripe. We never see your full card number.
• Usage: events such as interview started or finished, used to run and improve the service.

Who can access recordings

Recordings and transcripts are private to the account that started the interview. The person recorded can reach their own answers through their link. Anyone holding a share link you created can read the story and hear the recording; you can turn the link off by deleting the interview.

Who processes your data

• Cloudflare: hosting, database, audio storage and email.
• OpenRouter: passes each request to the AI model that handles it. We only use its zero-data-retention routes.
• Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud: run Anthropic's Claude for follow-up questions and the story, and Google's voice for reading questions aloud.
• Groq, Together or DeepInfra: speech to text.
• OpenAI: carries the live voice conversation. It doesn't train on this data and may keep it for up to 30 days to check for abuse.
• Stripe: payment.
• Zoho: our mailbox, if you write to us.

We don't sell your data. We don't use recordings to train AI models. We don't create voiceprints, identify speakers from their voice or clone voices.

How long we keep it

We keep interviews until you delete them. Deleting removes audio files and text from live systems at once, and backups are cleared within 30 days. Consent records are kept as proof that recording was agreed to.

Your rights

From any interview page you can download everything as a zip file or delete the interview. The person recorded can remove any answer or everything from their link. For anything else, write to hello@tellmefamily.com. Depending on where you live, including California, you may have further rights to know, correct or delete your data, and we honor those requests.

Children

The service is for adults. Don't create an account if you're under 18.
