Privacy and consent

Does the person being recorded have to agree?

Yes. Before anything is recorded they see what will happen and tick three boxes: they agree to be recorded, they know an AI asks the questions and their words become text, and they know they can stop or delete. Nothing records until they do.

Who can hear the recording?

The account that started the interview, and anyone that person sends a private share link to. We do not publish recordings.

Are recordings used to train AI?

No. We do not use your recordings to train models, and we choose providers whose terms exclude training on this data.

Can someone take something back?

Yes. The person recorded can remove any single answer, or delete everything, from their link. The account holder can delete everything too. Deletion removes the audio files and the text.

Delivery

When do I get the story?

Usually within a few minutes of the interview finishing. When that happens depends on when your parent finishes talking, which is up to them.

What exactly do I receive?

The recording, a written story you can edit, a PDF, an mp3 and a private link to share with family.

Can I buy it as a gift?

Yes. Pay in advance, write a note, and choose the date the invitation is emailed. Or send the link yourself whenever you like.

Is there a printed book?

Not yet. A hardcover option is planned. For now you get a PDF you can print. You can join the waiting list on the pricing page.

Refunds

What is the refund policy?

Ask within 30 days of paying and we refund the $49. Paid features and share links stop when the refund goes through.

What if the person I bought it for won't do it?

That's a fair reason for a refund within the 30 days. It happens, and we won't argue.

If your parent isn't comfortable with a phone

What if they can't manage the link?

Sit with them and use your own phone or computer. You run the controls and they just talk.

What if they have trouble hearing?

The AI asks each question out loud, and it also appears in large type so they can read it.
